GlobalTowne is one of the major Authorized Distributor's of the Marey gas tankless water heaters.  Marey offers 3 different Marey gas tankless water heaters and are sized based on BTU size and the gallons of hot water they will deliver.  Marey offers a 16L, 10L and 5L unit.  All of the Marey indoor gas tankless water heaters are for small family and point of use heating applications.  The Marey gas tankless come in either 119K BTU, 79K BTU and 34K BTU and these units ignite using 2 D-cell batteries for the ignition.

GlobalTowne is now stocking the new Marey GA26O outdoor tankless water heater.  This unit is designed for the outdoors and comes with built in freeze protection.  The Marey outdoor unit comes set for either Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP).

Marey Gas Tankless using Solar Preheated Water

The Marey gas tankless water heaters can accept preheated solar water.  There are controls on the front of the Marey 5L, 10L and 16L units that can be adjusted to accommodate the higher temperature incoming water.  You would want to set the temperature knob and flow control knob to a good desired temperature.  If the outgoing hot water is still too high then a thermostatic mixing valve may be installed right after the heater.

Marey GA16ETL Gas Tankless Water Heater Discontinued

Marey has recently announced that they have discontinued the Marey GA16ETL gas tankless water heaters.  The Marey GA16ETL units came in Natural Gas (NG) as the GA16NGETL or Liquid Propane (LP) as the GA16LPETL and were 107,000 BTU.  The Marey GA16ETL units were direct vent and required 3" stainless steel venting and could vent horizontally out the sidewall or vertical through the roof.

GlobalTowne is still carrying all of the other Marey gas and electric tankless water heaters that Marey has to offer.

The closest replacement tankless water heater to the Marey GA16ETL units are the 140,000 BTU Takagi T-KJR2-IN-N (NG) and T-KJR2-IN-P (LP) tankless water heaters. These units also require electricity for their electronic ignition and use 4" single-wall stainless steel venting.

Battery Life for Marey Gas Tankless Water Heaters

GlobalTowne is an Authorized Marey Distributor and we carry the full line of Marey Gas tankless water heaters.  The Marey GA16L, GA10L and the GA5L units all ignite using a battery ignition.  The units require 2 - D cell batteries to operate the ignition and with the units with the digital panel will use a little more as these show the temperature while the unit is running.

The longevity of the D cell batteries will all depend on the usage.  The batteries are only used for the ignition spark and for the digital display.  Under normal household usage the batteries should be changed every 6 months or so.  Below is a list of the Marey gas tankless water heaters that require the battery ignition.

Marey Gas Tankless Approved for Installation in Canada

The Marey gas tankless water heaters are approved for installation in the US but only some of them are approved for installation in Canada.  Marey gas tankless water heaters being installed in Canada have to meet certain regulations and need to be CSA approved.  The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) have special requirements that differ from the US.  All Marey gas tankless water heaters approved for Canada will have a special stamp on them stating they are CSA approved.

Marey Power Gas GA5L/10L/16L Tankless Water Heaters at Elevation

The Marey Power Gas naturally drafting gas tankless water heaters model GA5L/GA10L/GA16L are good for up to 6,000 ft elevation.  There are many people running the units at even higher elevations and the units will still operate well.  The air and gas mix at higher elevations will cause sooting in the heater exchanger and flue exhaust so this wants to be checked periodically.  You have to be aware that you will also loose 4% of your heat rise for every 1,000 ft above sea level...  this is applicable to all gas appliances.

Marey Gas Tankless Water Heater Deactivation Issue

This is to address the issue of deactivation in the Marey gas tankless water heaters in warmer climate areas such as S. California, Florida, Texas and Arizona.  Deactivation is an issue when the incoming cold water to the Marey gas tankless is warmer than normal and the unit produces hotter water than normal and then when trying to add cold water to regulate the temperature the unit shuts off and "deactivates".  Turning the hot water tap off and then back on would reignite the unit but then the user would be faced with the same situation.  There are a couple options for addressing this.

1.  The user would want to adjust the Marey gas tankless to the "summer" setting which will give the burner it's lowest BTU burn point.

2.  If the user has the unit set to the summer setting and is still experiencing hotter water than normal then they would want to increase flow.  Increasing flow by turning the flow control knob to its max flow will increase flow through the heater keeping the unit active and giving a little cooler water and the end user will not have to add in so much cold water to cool the water down.

Descaling Marey Gas tankless water heaters

GlobalTowne carries a Whitlam Flow-Aide Descaler PLUS Kit for descaling the Marey gas tankless water heaters.  Flow Aide System Descaler is a non-toxic concentrate which is certified to NSF/ANSI 60 for use as a cleaner in potable water systems. Flow-Aide is the perfect descaling solution to keep your tankless water heater in good operation. Combining Flow-Aide with one of our Webstone Isolation Valve Kits (Service Valves) will make the descaling process quick and easy!  This descaling kit comes with almost everything you would need to descale your Marey gas tankless water heater. You would need to get a couple 1/2" to 3/4" bushings to connect the Webstone isolation valves to the water connections.

Water scale deposits are a significant cause of heat transfer loss, along with the subsequent increase in energy costs. In fact, even a thin layer of scale (1/32") can cause a 30% increase in the cost to operate that piece of equipment. Keeping the heating passages free of mineral deposits significantly improves efficiency, conserves energy, extends the useful life of the equipment, and saves you time & money.
