Marey Power Gas GA5L/10L/16L Tankless Water Heaters at Elevation

The Marey Power Gas naturally drafting gas tankless water heaters model GA5L/GA10L/GA16L are good for up to 6,000 ft elevation.  There are many people running the units at even higher elevations and the units will still operate well.  The air and gas mix at higher elevations will cause sooting in the heater exchanger and flue exhaust so this wants to be checked periodically.  You have to be aware that you will also loose 4% of your heat rise for every 1,000 ft above sea level...  this is applicable to all gas appliances.

For further questions or to order a Marey tankless water heater please call GlobalTowne at 888-726-9752

Venting Change for Marey Power Gas Models GA5L/10L/16L

GlobalTowne is an authorized distributor of the Marey gas and electric tankless water heaters.  Marey has recently updated their manual for the power gas GA5L/10L and 16L units.  The installation manual has been revised to show that the 5L/10L and 16L power gas units must be vented vertically up through the roof.  The minimum vertical vent height shall be no less than 6'. Sidewall venting on a naturally drafting unit is not permissible and is against the National Fuel Gas Code (NFGC).  Below is a diagram that shows the vertical venting and also the venting specifications for each unit.
Venting Specifications for:
Marey Power Gas GA5L - Uses 4" diameter double walled galvanized type B-vent

Marey Power Gas GA10L - Uses 4" diameter double walled galvanized type B-vent

Marey Power Gas GA16L - Uses 5" diameter double walled galvanized type B-vent

Marey Gas Tankless Water Heater Deactivation Issue

This is to address the issue of deactivation in the Marey gas tankless water heaters in warmer climate areas such as S. California, Florida, Texas and Arizona.  Deactivation is an issue when the incoming cold water to the Marey gas tankless is warmer than normal and the unit produces hotter water than normal and then when trying to add cold water to regulate the temperature the unit shuts off and "deactivates".  Turning the hot water tap off and then back on would reignite the unit but then the user would be faced with the same situation.  There are a couple options for addressing this.

1.  The user would want to adjust the Marey gas tankless to the "summer" setting which will give the burner it's lowest BTU burn point.

2.  If the user has the unit set to the summer setting and is still experiencing hotter water than normal then they would want to increase flow.  Increasing flow by turning the flow control knob to its max flow will increase flow through the heater keeping the unit active and giving a little cooler water and the end user will not have to add in so much cold water to cool the water down.

For further instructions on how to combat deactivation in warmer climate please call Marey Technical Support at 855-627-3955.

Descaling Marey Gas tankless water heaters

GlobalTowne carries a Whitlam Flow-Aide Descaler PLUS Kit for descaling the Marey gas tankless water heaters.  Flow Aide System Descaler is a non-toxic concentrate which is certified to NSF/ANSI 60 for use as a cleaner in potable water systems. Flow-Aide is the perfect descaling solution to keep your tankless water heater in good operation. Combining Flow-Aide with one of our Webstone Isolation Valve Kits (Service Valves) will make the descaling process quick and easy!  This descaling kit comes with almost everything you would need to descale your Marey gas tankless water heater. You would need to get a couple 1/2" to 3/4" bushings to connect the Webstone isolation valves to the water connections.

Water scale deposits are a significant cause of heat transfer loss, along with the subsequent increase in energy costs. In fact, even a thin layer of scale (1/32") can cause a 30% increase in the cost to operate that piece of equipment. Keeping the heating passages free of mineral deposits significantly improves efficiency, conserves energy, extends the useful life of the equipment, and saves you time & money.
The Flow-Aide Descaling Kit includes the following:

1 - 3.5 Gallon Bucket

1 - 350 GPH Pump

2 - 5 Foot Rubber Hoses

1 - Quart Flow-Aide

Set of Lead-free 3/4" Webstone Service Valves 44443WPR

Please call GlobalTowne at 888-726-9752 for further questions or to order a Whitlam Flow Aide Kit.

Marey Replacement for Bosch 125B, 1600P, 425PN, 520PN Tankless Water Heaters

The Marey GA16NGDP 16L natural gas tankless water heater is the closest possible replacement for Bosch's popular line of 125B-NG, 1600P-NG, 425PN-NG and 520PN-NG tankless water heaters.

Like these Bosch tankless water heaters, the Marey GA16NGDP tankless water heater has no electric requirement and uses 5" double-walled galvanized B-Vent for its exhaust venting. The Marey GA16NGDP is perfect for off-grid applications.

While the Bosch 125B-NG, 1600P-NG, 425PN-NG and 520PN-NG tankless water heaters all had a standing pilot light, the Marey natural gas 16L 4.3 GPM unit uses two D-Cell batteries for its ignition source.

And at 120,000 BTUs, the Marey GA16NGDP is very close to the 117,000 BTU maximum input of the Bosch 125B-NG, 1600P-NG, 425PN-NG and 520PN-NG water heaters.

Marey GA16NGDP Natural Gas 16L 4.3 GPM Tankless Water Heater
Marey GA16NGDP 16L 4.3 GPM
If you are looking to replace your existing Bosch 125B-NG, 1600P-NG, 425PN-NG and 520PN-NG tankless water heater and your current unit is vented vertically through the roof then the Marey GA16NGDP will be a simple and straightforward replacement.

The Marey GA16NGDP natural gas tankless water heater can also be used to replace the Bosch natural gas tankless water heaters that used Bosch's patented Hydrogenerator as the ignition source. The Bosch 125HX-NG, 1600H-NG, 425HN-NG and 520HN-NG can all similarly be replaced by the Marey GA16NGDP TWH.

All of the aforementioned Bosch heaters were designed to vent vertically through the roof via a natural draft. They could also, however, be vented out the side wall with Bosch's AQ1 or AQ4 sidewall power vent kits. These sidewall power vent kits were specifically engineered to work with the Bosch heaters and will not work with the Marey GA16NGDP. If you are replacing a Bosch TWH vented horizontally with the Marey 16L natural gas GA16NGDP then you will have to remove the AQ1/AQ4.

It is always best to vent these non-electric tankless water heaters vertically, through the roof to get the best possible draft and performance from your heater.

The Marey GA16NGDP digital panel tankless water heater can also be used to replace the Bosch 125m000 BTU 125VP-NG unit as it also had no electric requirement and used 5" B-Vent.

The Marey GA16NGDP will work with lower water pressures than the Bosch tankless water heaters; the Marey GA16NGDP will run on a minimum 10PSI water pressure.

The Marey GA16NGDP can also be used to replace the Paloma PH12 legacy series tankless water heaters. The Paloma PH-12 series TWHs were 89,300 BTU units that used 5" B-Vent and ran on very low water pressure (as low as 2.1 PSI).

The Marey GA16LPDP liquid propane tankless water heater can similarly be used to replace the same Bosch and Paloma liquid propane (LP) versions of the same heaters listed above.

The Marey GA16NGDP and GA16LPDP 16L tankless water heaters are approved for installation throughout the US (including California) and Canada.
