History of Marey Tankless Water Heaters

Marey was founded in 1955 by the visionary Puerto Rican entrepreneur Mariano Reyes (the company name derived from the joining of his first and last name), who devoted his entire life to the production of innovative tankless water heaters. Chasing his dream of sustainable, endless hot water, he developed the point of use shower water heater. Throughout his career, he contributed many new innovations to continue to progress the Marey brand and solidify Marey as a market leader in Puerto Rico. From the first shower heater product we have expanded our product lines to many different options to best suit any customer’s hot water solution needs. Marey Power Gas GA16L Gas Tankless Discontinued

GlobalTowne would like to announce that Marey has recently stopped making the Marey Power Gas 16L gas tankless water heater.  The GA16L came in either NG or LP gas and was a one use at a time whole house gas tankless water heater.

Marey still continues to make the Power Gas 16LDP (Digital Panel) unit and also the Marey 16L ETL.  These units are great for small households that use 1 major application at a time.  These units require no power and operate off 2 D cell batteries which make them great for camps and cottages.

Using Marey Gas Tankless Water Heaters in Remote Areas

GlobaTowne carries all the Marey gas tankless water heaters.  The Marey gas tankless water heaters are great for remote locations where there is no power and minimal water flow and pressure.  The Marey Power Gas 16L, Power Gas 10L and the Power Gas 5L heaters will all operate without using any electricity.  The Marey units operate on 2 - "D" cell batteries and require only 10 psi of water pressure making them great for camps and cottages in remote locations.

The Marey Power Gas tankless water heaters should be mounted indoors but if they have to be mounted outside then they would have to have a box built around them to protect them from the elements.  Only install the Marey Power Gas units outside in a protected box only if you are in an area where it is not going to freeze.  If the temperature is going to get down below 32 degrees F then you would want to drain the tankless water heater and also maybe bring the unit inside.

The Marey Power Gas 16L, 10L and the 5L heaters can operate on a small 20 lb LP tank as long as you have the correct regulator on the tank.  Please refer to the installation manual for proper gas line sizing and gas pressure.

Determining The Proper Tankless Water Heater

The Marey tankless water heaters come in many different shapes and sizes and there is not really one that fits all needs.  Determining the proper water heater to fit your application should be based on the number of fixtures that are to be used simultaneously, and their accompanying flow rates. Every home and every end user is different, so the sizing of the tankless water heater should be calculated to fit the needs and each home and user.  Many end users have homes with low flow water fixtures and they are cautious of the water they use while others have high flow fixtures and use many applications at one time.  What this really comes down to is the end users preference and their demands.  The Marey tankless water heaters come in either gas or electric so you will need to determine which will be best for you and is most cost efficient.

Step 1:  List your fixtures
Go around your home and add up the total number of water fixtures that use hot water.  These will be shower heads, bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks, etc.  Do not forget to add in washing machines and any other fixture that uses hot water.

Step 2:  Choose your simultaneous needs
Now it's time to figure out which of these fixtures/machinery will need hot water at the same time. Try to keep in mind the more simultaneous water fixtures you need.

Step 3:  Calculate Gallons Per Minute (GPM) for selected fixtures
GPM is the standard flow rate in the US and most of your faucets and showerheads will have their GPM flow rate stamped into the side of the fixture.  If the flow rate is not listed then you can use a gallon jug and time the flow of the water into the jug and this will give you the GPM for that fixture. After you have your flow rates of each fixture you will need to supply hot water to you can add them up and this will help determine which tankless water heater is good for you.  Please see the chart below for a better understanding of determining your flow rates.

GlobalTowne is always trying to make things easier for customers when it comes to deciding which Marey gas or electric tankless water heater would be good for their geographic location.  There are many variables that need to be looked at when deciding on a Marey tankless water heater such as the location you are in, the average temperature of the incoming water and the needs for your specific application.

Below is a geographical chart which shows the northern sections, central sections and the southern sections.  The northern climates have much colder incoming ground water than the central or southern states.  So as an example, say you live in Maine, then you would want to choose a gas or electric tankless based off the blue chart as these will give you nice hot water still due to the colder incoming ground water.  If you live say in Florida or one of the southern states where the incoming ground water is warmer than you could use any of the gas or electric tankless water heaters.  Then you would need to make a decision on the correct tankless based on the number of sinks, showers washing machines you would use at one time.  This information is covered in our Blog called: Determing The Proper Tankless Water Heater.

Marey 16L ETL Gas Tankless Water Heater

GlobalTowne now carries the Marey Power Gas 16L ETL (Edison Testing Laboratories) gas tankless water heater.  This unit is designed for 2 applications (2 low flow showers or 1 low flow shower and 1 sink) with a maximum gallons per minute (gpm) of 5.4 gpm. The Marey Power Gas 16L ETL has a thermal efficiency of 82%.  This unit is a direct vent unit and has electronic ignition and sealed combustion.  The digital display on the front of the 16L ETL allows you to raise and lower the water temperature and to also display any error codes should problems occur.  The Power Gas 16L ETL will give you endless hot water and only takes a few seconds for the hot water to reach the tap.  The unit is equipped with anti-combustion and safety protection.  The digital display will read the outgoing temperature of the hot water while in use. GlobalTowne now carries the Marey Power Gas 10L Digital Panel (DP) gas tankless water heater.  This unit is small and designed for 1 major application (1 shower) with a maximum gallons per minute (gpm) of 2.7 gpm. The Marey Power Gas 10L DP has a thermal efficiency of 87%.  This unit is great for homes with low water pressure and only requires a minimum of 10 psi to operate.  Both the water flow and gas flow can be adjusted simply with the control knobs on the front of the unit, and it also has a winter/summer knob to allow more control over water temperature by opening gas to additional burners inside the unit.  The Power Gas 10L DP will give you endless hot water and only takes a few seconds for the hot water to reach the tap.  The unit is equipped with anti-combustion and safety protection.  The digital panel (DP) will read the outgoing temperature of the hot water while in use.
